Ally McBeal is an American television dramedy series that centered on the experiences of 28-year-old named Ally McBeal (Calista Flockhart), who just graduated out of Harvard Law School. After loosing her first job, she's forced to work for a money-loving friend's Boston Law firm with her ex-lover and his wife, and an annoying receptionist. The series paid minimal attention to the actual practice of law, instead it focused on the romantic and personal lives of the main characters, though sometimes using legal proceedings as plot devices to contrast or reinforce a character's drama.
